In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt.
Add the sliced beef to the skillet, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
In a separate pot, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer.
If using a slow cooker, transfer the beef and broth mixture to the slow cooker and cook on low for 4-6 hours.
If cooking on the stove, simmer the broth for about 10 minutes to deepen the flavors.
Slice the rolls in half and toast them lightly if desired.
Layer the cooked beef onto the rolls and serve with the au jus on the side for dipping.
